🧵 1_2. Before the #Oregon legislature is a bill to make #StandardTime permanent. I hope those who believe this is a good idea, knows this; if approved, from mid-June to mid-July sunrise would be at 4:30A and will set at 8:30.

This will also result in September sunsets a little after 6:00 - just in time for labor day weekend!

Proponents say staying on standard time will be good for our health. I don't believe waking up before 5:00 is, nor is less sunlight to hike, ride and to be active outside.

🧵 2_2. Proponents also say making #StandardTime permanent will prevent kids going to school in the dark. I start work at 7:30A and from mid-December to mid-January, trust me, it's dark at 7:30! I find this proposal bad for #Oregonians. One last thought, who is behind this? With less sun in the summer, we will need to use more energy to light our homes because of the earlier sunsets in May and September! Are we prepared for even higher electricity bills?
