@MikeElgan great article. One of the main reasons I'm still at my current job is because of their remote work flexibility. If they mandated an RTO I'd start looking immediately.

Between the 2 hours of life I'd lose to a commute, the $200+ dollars a month I'd pay in parking, the child care costs, etc. I'd be taking a significant hit personally to RTO. The office where I'm much less productive. The office where id spend my day on Teams calls anyway.

As I tried (in vain) to explain 26 years ago, the stakes in this game are much higher, and it didn't start with the pandemic. My consolation is that my essay is still being hosted online 😅
