The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

@KristenWixx what makes you think they expect a different result?

Looks to me as though they have established a system that works and are continuing to use it. They still have jobs etc, that's what matters. "some of you will die and that is a price I am willing to pay"

@moz @KristenWixx that was my immediate reaction too. They don['t expect anything different to happen; they're quite content with this.
@KristenWixx Probably destined to become a thing. 🙁
@KristenWixx the issue is they don’t expect a different result

I think Americans have to stop thinking about the Right’s gun position as “crazy”. They are drawing their power by making their supporters enraged and prepared to commit violence to support their leaders. Is it just a coincidence that they’ve made their followers ravenous to own AR 15s while the left attracts the peaceniks? If Republicans can making winning depend on violence, they’ve already got their mob armed for war.

@davidarnell I guess you haven’t heard of the SRA or the John Brown Gun Club.
@crow @davidarnell And how do those compare to the numbers in right-wing militias?
@KristenWixx And yet we can’t seem to vote these fucks out of office. Either this is what we want as a country, or a shit ton of lazy asses aren’t getting up to vote in EVERY ELECTION. It all starts at the local level.

@KristenWixx @breadandcircuses

look i get the main point and i’m not trying to wellactually here, but that droll saying is actively misleading, it’s a motivational motto from a 12-stepper in the 1970s and has nothing to do with any definition of insanity

gun horror isn’t madness: it’s purposeful cruelty and willful ignorance. relating gun law obstruction to actual well-intentioned humans whose sense of reality is broken just diffuses causality and blames the victims (us) of greedy gun sellers

@KristenWixx @breadandcircuses

the gun lobby is doing the same thing over and over again precisely because it delivers the same results

blaming society in general is their tactic

blaming the mentally ill is their tactic

blaming human nature for their own greed and cruelty and corruption is their tactic
