I’ve never been more excited to do a blog post.

My goal was to preserve some never-before-heard recordings of the Firehouse Five Plus Two, a famous Disney-employee dixieland jazz band.

But along the way, I accidentally uncovered something incredible… a lost song that was cut from Walt Disney’s Cinderella, a song that hasn’t been heard in almost 75 years.

And you’re about to hear it too.

@cabel Fantastic story. I sent you thucks®!
@stanjames holy cow thank you!!! i won’t forget it!
@cabel This is extraordinary. Thank you for taking the time to do this right. (Although not rare like this, I recently digitized the record that came with the Mickey Mouse in Color book from the late 1980s, an interview with Carl Barks and Floyd Gottfredson, thinking I'd put it online... But of course there were already copies on YouTube!)

In which @cabel discovers the proverbial Van Gogh in the attic — and emerges poorer. Send him some Thucks, folks!

@cabel Amazing find and a wonderful article. Love the intersection of music and movie history. Thank you!

@cabel So great, Cabel!

One of the things I love about physical media, and records in particular, is that they seem to last and last. I've got some from my Dad's collection dating back to the early 50s that are in near-perfect condition.

So happy you were able to snag & restore these!

@cabel Bonkers. Amazing. Thank you!
@cabel this is incredible! What a read
@cabel This is wonderful!
@jamesthomson @cabel It is! It's a pleasure to hear these things. This was my recently passed Mother's favorite song. It brought back ooold memories. Thanks.
@cabel This is amazing, thank so much. SO ENOJYABLE!
@cabel Oh that's fascinating! Congrats on the find.
@cabel My dad is a big Disney music fan. He's loving this!!
@cabel Cabel, I’d like to echo all the praise you’re getting for this article! Thank you for researching, writing and publishing it.

I am not a big fan of Jazz nor Disney, but any story about lost media is very interesting to me - and to discover and share a lost song from Cinderella is AMAZING!

Similar to the story of John saving the Western State Hurricane’s lost album, saving these delicate lost practice albums from the 40’s is such great story ☺️

@cabel @lisamelton The Firehouse Five Plus Two have a fond place in my heart so this is particularly lovely.
@cabel is that a Rick Roll bait?
@awax Believe it or not, no. Although that would’ve been elaborate and amazing
@cabel CABEL. Bless your impulse purchases of long-lost Disney relics. I lost a beautiful hour listening to these (and discovering Ward’s incredible set of Christmas cards on Amid Amidi’s Kimball account!!). Thank you. 🖤🖤

@cabel I'm so glad you won the auction. What an amazing find.

Thanks for sharing the story and preserving those recordings!

@cabel @siracusa Growing up in the 50’s-60’s in the San Gabriel Valley, Disneyland was a family favorite quick getaway. My parents, especially loved the FH5+2, and passed that love of music to us.

Thanks for finding and preserving these treasures and for the trip down Memory Lane. Thucks sent.

@cabel Epic 🙌🏽 thank you for sharing with us!
