international shopping websites: please, please say "US$50" instead of just "$50"

the number of times i've gone to a website with my location set to australia and had prices given to me in "dollars" that turned out to be USD and not AUD is way too high

the worst ones are where it's like
store page: $50
cart: $50
checkout: $50
checkout confirmation: AU$75

@lynnesbian

CEO: "but... but... how will I price gouge my customers?"
@lynnesbian This is insane that they don't specify this already. Many countries use $ that have a huge exchange difference to USD. The US should always use a US, USA, or USD prefix, I'm sorry that website was dumb
@lynnesbian *sends Canadian-Australian solidarity*
@lynnesbian As a Canadian I feel this so hard. I've had some places say $50 all the way through and I have to check my bank account or credit card to see how much I was charged in CDN.
