CNN blocking the default configuration of Safari is a bold move.
Strangers: It’s nice that you can load CNN’s website. Please do not ask me why you can do that and why I can’t. I do not know why. Please do not tell me that CNN is bad and I should not be reading it; I know CNN is bad but that’s irrelevant. Please do not tell me to use a different browser or OS, because boy that’s obnoxious jackassery and it’s time somebody told you that.
@waldoj update your Adblock extension
@ogi I have no Aeblock extension.
@waldoj pihole or anything like that?
@ogi Nope, though it’s possible my DNS provider is doing something.
@waldoj work on mobile on the cell phone network?
@ogi Good idea! Nope, still doesn’t work, and that’s with all content blockers off.
@waldoj new browser with private browsing? Would even go as far as to download a new browser and quadrupole check your DNS is set to default and no VPN is active
@ogi Argh, their blocked content page turns out to be a dedicated URL (https://www.cnn.com/browser-blocked), so of course reloading doesn’t help. The “fix” is to turn off content blockers for cnn.com. That said, I have zero custom content blockers, so the thing that’s blocked appears to be the stock iOS configuration of Safari, as I’d thought.
