Having a bit of cognitive dissonance about having one of my blog posts appear on the orange site, and everyone... seems to like it? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39287163
“Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement | Hacker News

@anildash Anil Dash is just THAT GOOD 👏
@anildash hell yeah congratulations!!
@anildash (and i hear you: someone posted my book there a few months back, and the comments were…generally pro-union? my inner twentysomething had no fucking idea what to do with that information)
@anildash RSS deserves all the love we can give it. Solved the problem of 'how do I communicate directly with my readers' decades ago.
@anildash its anti-Spotify, pro RSS. It’s the most orange-site friendly topic!
@joshhunt sure but the site often considers the author before the content. A good sign of my declining relevance.
@anildash @joshhunt who knew waxing obscurity could benefit you?
@dylanmorgan @joshhunt things are proceeding exactly as I had hoped

@anildash

1. drop the Pod from Podcasting
2. "POSSE - IndieWeb" https://indieweb.org/POSSE
3. enable more low-cost options for hosting for 2
4. more tools like ACurry’s podcastindex
5. RSS/ATOM Lacks well-supported CDATA rendering (pleasant html) too often, how about RSS and HTML working like buddies for a better UX? that is, link to real description etc rather than crossing the fingers.

Been consuming and producing for years, take back the Internets!

POSSE

POSSE is an abbreviation for Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere, the practice of posting content on your own site first, then publishing copies or sharing links to third parties (like social media silos) with original post links to provide viewers a path to directly interacting with your content.
