I've been hearing a lot about impostor syndrome among young people, especially of the female persuasion, and I just want to say that no matter how underqualified you feel giving that PowerPoint presentation to a room full of techbros, you will never be as out of place anywhere as Julien Clary pretending to be a working keyboardist in Thinkman, the fake band producer Rupert Hine once invented because he thought he wouldn't shift enough units on his own.

(Hine is the tall guy with the "sixth-form maths teacher sacked for sleeping with students before going on to found a desert salvage cult" vibe, and the only real musician here)

@Sonnenbarke Ok that's amusing 😂 very believable musicians, the whole lot 😁 I think my favorite is the inclusion of a blowtorch player - and he seems to keep blooping in and out of existence
@justelise I am so glad someone appreciates it lol, I enjoy the liminal blowtorchist as well. They actually have another video to a song called "The Formula" in which Clary has more of a standard video ho role (I think by that time they'd worked out what his strengths were), and to be fair he does look very nice in that one, and puts a lot of effort into pretending to be aroused by a woman's fishnetted thighs when they appear on the screen. He really gives it the old college try and I'm so glad he found his own fame afterwards and went on to do more respectable work like fisting Norman Lamont
@Sonnenbarke 🤣 Wow. Sadly, I don't think I was familiar with Clary until this video. If I track down more of his work, I'm sure I'll still have his appearance here, Pretty Mullet Boy Flirting With The Camera, firmly in my mind. First I'll have to find this other video, of course 😁
@justelise OMG that thing I said about fisting Norman Lamont must have made no sense to you at all, I'm so sorry! Clary is very much a UK star, basically he began as an extremely camp and decorative 90s comedian and has also done acting and the obligatory dog rescue show as well, by the look of it. I cant really recommend his series Terry and Julian but his stand up and talk show appearances are often fantastique! And yeah he had his style absolutely locked down, so many great looks.

I suppose I should check he hasn't run out and become some kind of weird bigot since the 90s but honestly I couldnt bear the disappointment lol
@justelise Oh wait no I think he only wrote books about dogs, rather than interviewing them on telly like Lily Savage. But moving swiftly on

Oh yeah the video to The Formula is here! It's a bit more together than the other one, at least Julian and his pink and violet sitting-room are on point

@Sonnenbarke Only the surface meaning 😂 But I did some searching, so I get the reference now, even if I don't really know the people involved

Well a quick search says he's pro-socialism, a pagan and defends gender-neutral clothing. Doesn't *sound* like the type to be a bigot. He sounds delightful. Now I really do need to find some of his work :) Besides the amazing music videos - both are treasures! A few snippets are showing up in a quick search, so I'll start with those :)
Thank you :)
