@csilverman I am always intrigued when one of your images shows up in my feed. They make me think about what the image says when I first look at it, then I think a bit more deeply about what you might be thinking, and finally I take time to admire the physicality of the strokes, and how the image has boundaries without much line work.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us !
@rhempel Thank you for the time you put into my work! The subject matter is the most visible part, but for me, the part that I'm often happiest with is the texture—the rough edges of a shape, the layered brushwork for a color, that sort of thing.
I assume most people don't see that side of the work, since it's a subtler technical thing. But it's often the aspect that I think is best—especially with the new crayon tool—so I'm delighted that you took the time to notice it. Thank you.
@csilverman I was wondering if it was a digital artifact :-) My wife is a watercolorist and has done some work on her iPad but has not really transitioned out of the analog world.
Art is funny, I have no ability myself, but there are certain styles that appeal to me. For some reason I also like brightly colored naive images of rustic interiors, and 50' and early 60 style block print illustrations :-)
