mastodon on the front page of the app store!! available in a living room near you
@samhenrigold Is this the Vision Pro?
@stux sure is! decided to buy one after a really compelling demo in store today and going to use the 14 day return window as a prolonged test drive

@samhenrigold Woahhh! 🤩

I've been amazed by it since the keynote but the price

It seems REALLY awesome! Does it also work with Unreal Engine?

@stux @samhenrigold since it's a VR headset running some weird version of iPad OS Unreal Engine should work fine with it. At least the iPad version. The thing is to make apps for Apple hardware you need an Apple compiler, so you should have a MacBook or Hackintosh at your fingertips to do such things.
@stux @samhenrigold also since the XCode simulator isn't 1:1 hardware emulation you'd also need a Vision Pro to test your app against and a 100€/year developer fee to publish it to the App Store.
@stux @samhenrigold so if you put it all together you'd be looking at 5000€ worth of hardware and fees to develop one app. Developing for Apple simply sucks ass.

@koyu @samhenrigold

I don't want to develop for Apple perse but rather have it as an extra option

Currently im super interested in how VR would work with engines like UE

I mean I freaking love creating (noobish) games in UE, i can't even imagine the fun to do that in and for VR  Apple or no

@stux @koyu @samhenrigold quest is probably the best platform to target rn for VR gaming, it's by far the most affordable and has the largest userbase
@lexd0g
seems indeed the most logical choice
@koyu @samhenrigold
@stux @lexd0g @samhenrigold this, but make sure it's the general purpose Android VR target, so it runs both on Pico and Quest. Don't like Meta having my data.
