would someone explain to me what it means to be a "game manager" and why it sounds pejorative? I would think it would be a good thing to manage the game well.

@lmc Is it like "game overthinker" or something, I wonder? Too much delegation?
@joelvanderwerf someone explained to me elsewhere (I'm not sure if this is accurate) as just trying not to lose versus trying to win; being conservative I suppose. I don't see Purdy this way.

@lmc It's a slam because “managing" is not "doing”.

In testosterone driven sports, the “taller, faster, stronger" dudes are the only ones deserving of credit for the win. The others must have use "sneaky athleticism" or "guile” or “intangibles" (or "game manager" skills). None of which are ‘real' attributes of a winner.

Football “experts" tiny brains would break if they allowed themselves to believe that a 6’1” QB could be as good as the 6’5” 260lb Adonis they fawned over during the draft.
