@gruber I agree the Mac notebook lineup is in a good spot but there's still a gap imo. I would like to see something like a 12-in MacBook Pro, M3 Air with M3 Pro + Better Display, or all-new 12-in MacBook (OLED?).

@tbolt And I don't think an M3 Pro chip will appear in a MacBook Air because the Air is a fanless design. The one hope of yours that I'd say “maybe" too would be an even smaller super thin MacBook, but even there, I get the feeling Apple thinks there isn't a big enough market. Just like with the iPhone Minis.

I'm bummed too -- like "as small as possible" devices.

@gruber I’m thinking a M3 Pro chip in an iPad Pro and MacBook Air is going to happen. It’s weird how efficiency-focused it is, unless there’s more to the story. My instinct is it was designed to push the iPad Pro to its very limit. With no fan but maybe some new cooling technique(vapor chamber?). In which case I would hope the MacBook Air is just a benefactor and also receives the option. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/11/testing-apples-m3-pro-more-efficient-but-performance-is-a-step-sideways/
Testing Apple’s M3 Pro: More efficient, but performance is a step sideways

It's an improvement over M2 Pro, especially in efficiency. But only a mild one.

@tbolt Maybe! I can see them continuing to push iPad Pro higher up the Apple silicon latter. And it would justify higher prices for iPad Pro models, with more of a gap from iPad Airs.
