50 years ago today. Happy birthday, you mad and wonderful idea.
@CherylMorgan realizing I've played for 25 myself right about now. Cheers!!!
@esko my first game was in 1976
@CherylMorgan And now I know what TSR stands for. Can't believe I never looked it up before.
@argo_yamato They Sue Regularly, isn’t it? πŸ˜‰
@CherylMorgan I'll be wearing my D20 lapel pin today to celebrate!
@CherylMorgan have one of those and I'll raise you one slightly damaged supplement IV - Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes.
@CherylMorgan Glorious. Didn't hear about it for another ten years (in my defence, I wasn't born at the time), but when I did it changed my life!

@CherylMorgan

10 years later, my 2 sons had the TSR manual and several of the Supplements, and were hosting the local kids' sessions. They asked for their first computer (a Tandy CoCo), and learned their first "basic", so they could automate character creation. 40 years on, D&D remains an influence in their lives.

Same here. The first thing I wrote on my TI 99/4a was a character generator. Saved it to cassette tape. πŸ™‚

@CherylMorgan nice, first encountered it in β€˜82. Best friend had much older twin brothers that were obsessed. At 10 years old, we mostly liked looking at pictures in the manual and drawing mazes on graph paper. Great memories.
@CherylMorgan @lisamelton The aesthetics of those earlier game materials still give me feels like I’m 11 again
@CherylMorgan Started TTRPGing 35 years ago (not D&D). Still have my first rulebook. Though I love the game, the text and some illustrations are cringeworthy today 😳.
@masek Runequest and the chainmail bikini?
@CherylMorgan Stop making me feel so old. I also bought the white box version when it was released.
@paulc If I’m having to feel old, so can you
