10 years later, my 2 sons had the TSR manual and several of the Supplements, and were hosting the local kids' sessions. They asked for their first computer (a Tandy CoCo), and learned their first "basic", so they could automate character creation. 40 years on, D&D remains an influence in their lives.

Same here. The first thing I wrote on my TI 99/4a was a character generator. Saved it to cassette tape. π
