Coloured LaserDisc
Evil Dead II - NTSC on Red Disc
Not aware of any other LDs pressed on Coloured Disc
Its very flimsy Poly, feels very soft & lite
Plays fine as you’d expect
Anyone know of any others?
@LaserdiscTurtle

@avavsystems It's a beautiful disc, I have one in my collection too.

It was also possible to order a regular silver edition as they were worried the red colour could cause playback issues with older neon laser based players.

There were plenty of gold discs, mostly in PAL regions, but the Special Edition US Elite pressing of Evil Dead 1 came with gold discs to go along side this red one for ED 2.

I think there were maybe a handful of red discs in Japan.

@LaserdiscTurtle Ah the shit Gold CDV Discs out of PDO Blackburn. They were really shit, weren’t they.
I think every single one of them I’ve got has died or sparking
@avavsystems The only ones I'm aware of are the Philips / Sony / Microvitec recordable Laserdiscs.
@philpem got one of them.
👍
@avavsystems @philpem I remember using one in '91 or '92ish; I did summer work for a local company that did stuff for museums; so it would all be touch screen quiz questions where a question would be 'go to this frame...' overlay these questions. Or short video clips.
@avavsystems @LaserdiscTurtle oh neat, didn't know they ever made colored Laserdisc!
@foone @avavsystems This disc is a real beauty. Well worth tracking down if you collect laserdiscs. Hilarious commentary too.
🤣

RLV discs were red: https://dialup.space/@TechTangents/111315179245145405

But that was a little different and not really "pressed", it might be the same substrate as that one though. There were full sized gold colored CD Video releases as well.

But still definitely unusual for a commercial release!

Attached: 3 images Today I got setup with a Domesday Duplicator for ripping raw data from Laserdiscs! I have 4 RLV recordable discs that I've been holding off on playing them due to physical issues but now that I can do it right, it turns out they are from a Motion Simulation theater system! Something that likely couldn't be properly recorded without the DD because there is motion control data vblank area!
