Why has Comic Sans stopped working? - Lemmy.World

Hello everyone. I’m trying to style a web page to use Comic Sans. This has worked in the past as I have the font installed on my system (Fedora 38), and I know that Firefox can see it because it can be selected as an option for the default font: [https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/cba592da-09e5-4148-af1f-1f2ced27f40e.png] However when I try to use it in CSS, it is not recognized: [https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/b4360347-a640-4323-8261-02cabc7a1a6d.png] I checked and other fonts are not affected: [https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/69ef5934-f103-43ef-87f0-bb2f6473fc77.png] I can’t use the Impact font either. Both work under Chrome. Does anyone have a clue about what could be going on? Thanks

It’s been banned world wide. Along with papyrus.
What's so wrong with Comic Sans?

Comic Sans, that unassuming jovial typeface lurking inside millions of computers, has become the target of an online hate campaign.

Comic sans is a perfectly valid font and exceptional at its intended role. But it is problematic when used in anything other than a very casual environment.

It’s a great choice for something like a web comic. But not for a law firm.

It’s also a great choice for code. πŸ™ƒ
