I think communication might be difficult at first for both of us fellow citizen Edwin van Meerkerk, as I only speak English.
But I just started following Vera and she's been boosting compassionate beings right and left from other countries, including you, and the language translators don't seem to be doing a very good job :)
But I think I understand what you're saying - all children are equally valuable and deserving of compassion, and if we teach them compassionately they will become a solid foundation for the future.
I agree. And want to extend that idea even further - children who are different, or seem disabled, are just as valuable.
In fact a group of supposedly disabled children changed my life.
I hope the translators don't mess up what follows too much ...

"When I was 15 years old I did something wrong in high school and my punishment was to spend one week as a teachers aide in the intellectually disabled class, which at that time was known by the old derogatory name of retarded class.
I remember being so embarrassed, and dreading the start of my sentence, but within minutes of entering the class I began a learning experience that would alter my life.
To make a long story short, though the children lived with a range of disabilities, including Down's, I soon discovered they were some of the most endearing and precious human beings I'd ever encountered.
There was Betty, one of a few Down's children, whose sole purpose in life was to make small gifts for everyone every morning, and spend the rest of the day making sure everyone was happy. And Lawrence, who was so incredibly funny that every third sentence out of his mouth would leave all of us drowning in laughter. And many other wonderful individuals who would require too much space to describe here.
And yet none of them could read or write or perform most any of the tasks we typically value.
That's when I discovered that the intellect I'd previously believed made us human was in fact the least valuable part of us.
And compassion the most."

Ha!
Oh sheesh.
You understand English perfectly fellow citizen Edwin van Meerkerk, I'm the only one with a problem.
The story of my life :)
Thank you for explaining it clearly in English, because the translator didn't convey how truly horrific it was.
To judge anyone on "talent", or any artificial measure of "intelligence" at any age is cruel and misinformed and inhumane.
As there is simply no way to measure true intelligence.
And compassion is all that binds humanity in any case.

"Children should not know fear, or death, or suffering, for it is not their lot to know. Theirs is a time for joy, and wonder, and a time of great discovery. Let them never despair, or hurt, or want. This should be our highest calling, and our most sincere dedication."
