Cancer, Covid ... and even the agapanthus in our garden, a patch of which survived nearly a decade in the gloom beneath oppressive trees that the previous owner allowed to grow wild. The agapanthus are now thriving in the sun, after a diaspora that saw them scattered to strange and far-flung corners of the garden.
