@scott I am not a vegetarian, but I was surprised by my experience in Spain. Sometimes it seemed like the restaurants were a big conspiracy to trick vegetarians into eating meat.

Portugal was different. They may offer you a "couvert" that you didn't ask for, but it seems like most of the restaurant dishes were pretty much what I expected, based on the description on the menu.
