January 13th is the day on the calendar when Utah ski resorts have the best chance for having fresh powder statistically.

That's why Protect Our Winters (POW) made that our outreach day.

Related to the weather, y'all know that these polar vortexes are caused by global warming weakening our jet stream because of the smaller difference in temperatures between the polar and equatorial regions right?

Anyways, now you do and here's a graphic if you want.

I'm glad that the graphic explaining how global warming is causing these polar vortex movements to the south got some attention.

I'd just like to add a phrase for you to remember for the stagnant heat waves we'll be experiencing in a few months related to the weakened jet stream: high-amplitude quasi-stationary wave patterns.

@GreenFire @jose_suweeet The cause is sad, but on the bright side, as a Canadian living south of Canada, I’m enjoying the cold weather for a change.
@GreenFire nice graphic! Are you the author/artist?
@knowuh
Thanx, No I'm not the creator. It should be possible to find them. It comes up quickly in a reverse image search.

@GreenFire — thank you.

I was hopeful that the fedi would be better about attribution.

Maybe it could go into the alt text or something?
