@lednabwm not really. when you love life you embrace the moment you reckon it's time to go. cults by default establish an in/out relationship with the world and in most cases those who are out are hated and dehumanized. when you love live and bring kindness into the world; it's hard to see you yourself in and in/out relationship with everything and everybody around you. it's hard to love life and dehumanize at the same time.

@blogdiva to be 100% clear for anyone who may not realize it, this is not hyperbole or a metaphor.

When you look at Steven Hassan's BITE model (a model of how cults control thought an behavior) and compare it to capitalism in terms of your employer + the state forcing you to work for an employer, it checks quite a lot of those boxes.

Capitalism is *definitely* a cult. This headline is a reminder of what type of cult it is.

@blogdiva it makes a lot of sense when you think about how many big businesses and multinationals openly talk about death and destruction resulting from their operations as just another cost of doing business. It's factored into their financials, even the extinction of humanity somehow, by some miracle they'll figure out a way to keep going after everyone and everything is dead, maybe they'll monetize ghosts or colonize hell.

@blogdiva I remember back when this article first came out, actually! I actually read it, and it is very much not pro-war, even if the headline can be read as implying otherwise.

The general gist of it is “hopefully there’ll never be another world war, but if there ever is, here are some things you’ll want to know ahead of time so you can prepare and hopefully prevent it from ruining your entire life”.
