Navigating bioethics in AI

Dr. Olinda speaks. The interfaces at which a patient and healthcare interact are one of the places where AI/ML is entering the clinical context. Interfaces like chats, history taking etc. Is it ok to relegate patients to be dealt with by code. Is there not a need and right of a patient to be treated by a person? How can we realistically do this? Only with time will we have clarity, but this is an area for ethics to watch.

About the use of data: Let's say a chatbot takes the medical history or analyzes images, does the patient's right to know what is being done with data, who owns it, etc. get compromised. We need to have opt-out setups which allows patients to opt out of sharing information with AI systems.

Ethical aspects of algorithms and how they are trained and deployed is now being called #Algorethics #HealthcareAIEthics
