I wanted to briefly hit on failings of #healthcare in #Toronto and who it fails.

Yesterday I went to our privatized blood collection system for an upcoming appointment. There I witnessed a man get rejected because his requisition was outdated. He needed it to see a specialist the following week.

My own was due to expire in two weeks. In a failing system where specialists are booked out many months it seems comical to reject people on this seemingly arbitrary timeline.

This was someone who was clearly disadvantaged. And upon hearing that his form was outdated uttered a single F-bomb.

This triggered an overzealous cop in the waiting room to get involved, escalating the situation.

This person was someone who is trying to get healthcare, yet we reject them because "rules are rules" and we're fine with failing the fringes in society.

When seeing a specialist is a months long wait, we're arbitrarily forcing those without resources to manage on a technicality.

@TWDickson More people they can kill off, the more they can claim “look ma, no wait times” 🤷🏽‍♂️

@faisalk64 Yep. This particular LifeLabs is right beside Moss Park.

We see vulnerable populations, some without fixed addresses trying to get healthcare only to be turned away and it's shameful.
