We are excited to announce the latest update of @calyxos includes built-in real time malware and stalkerware scanning using malware signatures from @CitizenLab from "research on targeted attacks on civil society organizations", from @AmnestyTech "investigations in targeted threats against human rights defenders" and stalkerware database from @AssoEchap, a hacker-feminist collective that fights against the use of technology in gender-based and sexual violence.
The software that enables the malware scanning is called Hypatia and is produced by @divested Any new installation of CalyxOS from this version forward will be offered Hypatia during the initial set-up wizard. Older CalyxOS installations can add the software from @fdroidorg manually. We hope to promote the protection of endangered groups and individuals including civil society, human rights defenders, journalists, women and others.

We hope this becomes the default "best practice" for makers of mobile phone operating systems.

This is what I wish was happening on XDA for the past 15 years: Cooperation between ROM developers instead of baseless accusations of DDoS attacks and swatting. :)
@drakenblackknight yeah absolutely, that's what we attempted to work towards with AOSP alliance
https://github.com/AOSPAlliance/README/commit/504b449757bce99d279ae51cd7b2737095228d1d
but... for some reason, it didn't work out

I reiterate: Same old story on XDA, but Rome wasn't sacked in a day. ;)
@drakenblackknight
Hmm anyone has more information of what exactly happened?
@calyxos
@calyxos do you know @divested is in urgent need of donations?
Tavi (@[email protected])

Happy New Year! DivestOS and the Divested projects as they currently stand are ultimately unsustainable. My goal for 2023 was to acquire a grant to continue my work, I was unsuccessful. Today I am announcing a fundraiser of raising $12,000 USD by end of February. It may be a stretch to ask, but I hope you all have found sufficient value in my work to keep these projects going. If it is unsuccessful I will switch to a full-time job and the Divested projects will take a backseat. To those who have donated, I truly appreciate your support. Thank you - Tavi/Tad. https://divested.dev/donate#fundraiser2024

@calyxos Cool! Will you provide funds to @divested as the project as a whole is currently in danger? https://divestos.org/pages/news#2024-fundraiser
