MrJameGumbIt’s less about being happy and more about not wanting to be bothered about it later. If some corporate big shot sees that you’re the only one scowling in the picture then you could be passed over for a promotion later, or even worse someone might actually come ask you why you weren’t smiling. The best strategy for any kind of corporate gathering is to just smile and get it over with so everyone can stop pretending they want to be there and hopefully go home early
