Criminal Justice Bill: Nuisance begging and rough sleeping

GOV.UK

@Geri
We know what progress would look like.

The solution to homelessness is providing homes, and Finland has proven this. The evidence is in, and all policies trying to tackle homelessness in any other way are *stubbornly wrong* at this point.

We can also make nuisance begging go away by bringing in universal basic income. Let's be honest, the "nuisance" element of begging has always just been another word for guilt or resentment at being expected to help strangers.

@petealexharris your use of guilt is quite profound and very much 'on point' xxx
@petealexharris @Geri 'Floggings shall continue until morale improves'.
Punishing people for something that isn't their choice is just wrong.
@Geri Workhouses and such things should have been left to the Victorian era.
@ariaflame @Geri Tories have never forgiven anyone for not letting them keep them. ALL social advances have been despite the tory/conservative party, not because of them.
@Thebratdragon @Geri It wasn't just the weather why we left the UK.
@ariaflame @Geri I would, but after brexit and due to penury, only option would be countries that take GBR refugees
@Thebratdragon @Geri We got out during Thatcher.
@ariaflame @Geri Couldn't afford to when I had the chance, now the window is closed (mostly) lottery win and everywhere is happy to take me.
