Montreal still sees quite a bit fewer cyclists in the winter than in the summer, but the gap looks to be getting smaller. From 2021 to 2023, the biggest seasonal volume increase on the city's busiest bike corridor happened in winter.
@OhTheUrbanity I think the unusually warm December has helped. I’ve seen more people out on bikes here in Edmonton. The main barrier here to wider winter cycling is how slippery the roads get, and that wasn’t as much of an issue this year.
@OhTheUrbanity it’s been a great year. I think yesterday was the only day I felt cold, but only because I’ve gotten so used to not needing a balaclava.
