Jesus. No shame.
@ct_bergstrom Easy to miss in Rufo's bragging that getting the President of Harvard fired pretextually because of plagiarism (but actually because powerful Harvard alumni have always hated her) isn't really a culture war victory.
Conservatives going all D-Day on the hill of getting all the liberal Presidents of elite American Universities fired and replaced by other liberals.
welp, I don't expect the major networks that contributed to this absurd outcome to follow up so I'm 🤞 that the late-night comedians pick up the story of how all these 'news' shows got played and spread it nice and wide
because naturally a feature of this particular dystopia is that comedians more consistently and reliably report on news than the entire industry claiming that label
@ct_bergstrom everything is just so dumb! Does former president of Harvard follow not granted tenured former faculty of Harvard? In other words, will she be given the presidency of some lesser school?
Rufo’s schtick is so transparent, I think the media must also just hate higher ed to always “fall” for it.
It’s just sad to me.
When I see stuff like this, combined with all the combined stories of others who have fled academia, makes me not want to go to university. I know, it’s just the way it is. Doesn’t mean I have to like it. Have a good night!
@ct_bergstrom What's done is done. It worked, she's out. Why shouldn't he monologue about it? Can't undo it, can't fix it.
The tighty righties have decided that they won, which is why they're acting so brazenly. And everybody who is reasonably in a position to do anything is going "Well... Yeah, I guess they did."
Not with a bang, but a whimper.
Article in Politico for further context:
Acting out of hate and resentment, seems core for Republicans nowadays…
They are NOT "conservatives." They are fascist radicals. There is just no other way to see it now.
He's been loud about how he works for a while, it's just that nobody in power gives a cubic shit.
The sooner he covids the better
