CBC then cuts to Fraser Institute dude who says reports like this are "apples & oranges" because they fail to include other forms of average worker employee compensation like flexible hours. 🤣​ #eattherich

@chris I dunno if people outside BC know the Fraser Institute is a charity initially funded by MacMillan Bloedel, then BC's biggest forestry company, in a panic reaction to the election of social democrat Dave Barrett as BC's premier in 1972.

@AlisonCreekside I did not know that! Maybe they should go the way of their original benefactor! (Note: I say this as a life-long, born and raised resident of what was problem the biggest “Mac Blo Company Town" in the country, Port Alberni BC. It was famously the city with the highest average income in Canada at its peak in the 1970s. It has taken 50 years to stop the economic decline since.

@pinhman Totally cool that the Fraser Institute, which as a charity does not itself pay taxes, rails against taxes.
The Fraser Institute gives out bursaries to journalists to take their free enterprise "educational program for journalists", covering the journos' economy airfare travel & accommodation.
Here's the 2021 class. The instructor was a community college economics teacher from Arizona.

US law demands they reveal what US based orgs it funds, but not foreign. Canada has few demands to reveal who & how advocacy orgs are funded, and what "inkind services" are provided. @AlisonCreekside If Geloso is director of an entirely independent think tank, why is he the author of piece for an entirely different “independent” think tank. One must “turn off” thought to stop the contradictions. A better term for these orgs is “fountain of ignorance”. All but the willfully ignorant can see these orgs as tools of fear uncertainty and doubt to offer support to ignorance and misinformation.
