For all you #Archaeology fans #DiggingforBritain starts again tonight on BBC2 at 8pm!

Can't wait 😊

They're not kidding about the 'all episodes available on iPlayer' thing - the whole new series is up already!

(Weather's absolutely grim in the bit of Derbyshire I'm staying in, so I reckon it's time for a #DiggingForBritain marathon. Genuinely one of my absolute favourite things on telly...)

Digging for Britain - Series 11: 1. The Roman Emperor’s Bathhouse

An imperial Roman bathhouse, lost treasures of medieval pilgrims and a mountain fortress.

@coprolite9000 it really is wonderful - archaeology is so rarely celebrated, it gives the whole community a boost.

@tess_machling
Felt like a gloriously broad range of sites covered - from small volunteer digs to big commercial ones, exploring a vast amount of time...

Weirdest thing? That Roman dodecahedron - and the fact that it's one of *many*. My best, entirely non-serious explanation is that they're for balancing Scottish stone spheres on...

(I'm very, *very* tempted to make a 3D model of the dodecahedron. Watch this space!)

@coprolite9000 oh yes, please do... it's the different hole sizes the interest me...I think that's key.
