I'm for this, but looking at Trump, and recognizing that, in America at least, tolerance for the utterly unacceptable is shockingly, perversely, high.

@Edelruth Ehh I think you underestimate the degree to which GOP is a unique haven for this stuff. Their party has rapists and pedophiles in it. There's a reason Elon Musk swapped sides when he found out someone was going to talk about the time he assaulted her. Harvey Weinstein could run as a republican if he really wanted to; it doesn't mean his career in Hollywood is going to recover.
@Edelruth not to mention having the GOP's "support" really just means 20 percent of the population is going to vote for you (most of whom are ignorant single issue christians who don't actually like you and just want to vote for the guy who promises to ban abortion). That's enough to win an election thanks to gerrymandering, suppression, and other sources of low overall voter turnout, but it's not even in the ballpark of being as meaningful a barometer of "national popularity" as the far right likes to pretend it is.
