Huh, apparently the development team at Roland had planned on making a chord machine after the MC-202, but gave up on it due to the 303's commercial failure, from this article towards the end - https://articles.roland.com/tadao-kikumoto-exclusive-conversation/

@dequalsrxt What kind of hardware getting produced these days will still be around in 30 years do you reckon.

@oin Maybe the Timbre Wolf needs its own Phuture to make some Wolf Tracks or some shit to become a future classic?

Akai Timbre Wolf | Vintage Synth Explorer

The Akai Timbre Wolf is a four-voice, D.C.O, analog synthesizer notorious for its head-scratching voice architecture, eyebrow-raising sequencing capabilities and the jaw dropping lack of response one finds when tweaking it's deceptively generous collection of front panel knobs. However, in a classic case of "the whole being greater than the parts," the Timbre Wolf's smooth DCO oscillators and off-beat functionality, in an increasingly conformist synthesizer market, have caused many to change their minds about this oddly-charming device.

@dequalsrxt I’d be willing to take that challenge, that is quite the write up, never played around with one, wonder what the sounds are like. Looks solid though, I wonder did Arturia take any reference for their midi controllers from this beast
@oin I never played with one, but the demo from NAMM when it came it out is pretty funny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noOXZvgyGSo

@dequalsrxt I kind of like the fact that even the rep doesn’t really understand it, it all seems really unpolished, I wonder what kind of prices they are going for. Ever play around with Michigan synth works stuff? They have a mono synth that sounds quite nice
@dequalsrxt It actually reminds me of the Monomachine architecture a bit, interesting little device
@dequalsrxt The timbre wolf that is
@oin I haven't. I don't pay too much attention to new synth stuff coming out anymore, there's just too much.
@dequalsrxt Yep agree there alright
