It was about slavery. But we should always mention that the immediate cause of the last time America's "conservatives" waged rebellion against the United States was for the same reason Trump did.

They lost a presidential election and wouldn't accept the results.

@lolgop The American Revolution was also fought to keep slavery: "For white slaveholders in the South, Simon Schama writes in Rough Crossings, his history of black loyalism during the Revolution, the war was "a revolution, first and foremost, mobilized to protect slavery."

3 reasons the American Revolution was a mistake

It's the party, root to crown. In WI the false electors were WIGOP party leadership, including a member of the state Election Commission. The room the false electors met in was secured by Scott Fitzgerald, an elected US Representative, voted in in the same election he was saying was corrupt. The faked documents were carried to DC by Sen. Ron Johnson's aide.

I'm getting a canal in 3 days. Ouch your phraseology!
@mrblissett @lolgop
I was going for a tree, but I can see why you went dental. A tooth is easier to extract.
@MHowell
Hmm. Both contain pulp, too!

@lolgop
Excellent point.

And Lincoln wasn't even proposing abolition (far from it). The secessionists left because they no longer had the nunbers to force their will upon Northern and Western states.

@lolgop Fair point. So when they want to secede this time, can we just pack them a lunch and tell them they don’t really need to call?

@lolgop Another one to think about:

When was the first presidential election involving a change of party, where the outgoing president attended the inauguration?

The peaceful transition of power seems to have been a hissy-fit for some time at the begining of America.

Tradition!
