Hey #thinkpad bubble, I have a #t460 that seems to work, but only via external screen. I somehow managed to get into the BIOS, but the display was waaaaay to dark. Looked like brightness was set to 10%, only able to recognize schemes. But I could not adjust the screen brightness using the keys.

Display error? Or is there something else I could try?

@sandzwerg Possibly. Any idea how to test this?
If this is the case, a new display would fix this, right?

@johanneskastl ifixt might have some guide. Just shining a light from behind the screen should show something. Iirc the backlight is different from the screen itself but I'm all but an expert

@johanneskastl @sandzwerg Backlight is built into the display so you would need to replace it if it has failed. Sometimes a loose display cable can cause this symptom.

@johanneskastl @sandzwerg or it's just a wire in the display cable that broke from mechanical stress... then it could maybe even repaired with a bit of soldering!

@malte @sandzwerg I'll try and replace the display on the weekend, keep your fingers crossed...
