[Episode #214] – Countering Climate Doomerism | The Energy Transition Show

Climate scientist Dr. Michael E. Mann answers some of the hottest questions today about climate science.

The Energy Transition Show
@MichaelEMann @chrisnelder I've saved and will listen to this later, Professor Mann. With regard to the subject of "doomerism" in general, we are all doomed, as individuals ("In the long run, we're all dead," to quote JM Keynes), & all life on this planet is doomed in the very long run - 1.1 billion years, to be precise! However, I refuse to worry about that, as I'm not going to be here. In 550 million years, when the continents have reassembled into one super-continent, Pangaea Ultima, (1/2)
@MichaelEMann @chrisnelder straddling the Equator, & the Sun's luminosity has increased by ~5%, it will be too hot on Earth for land-dwelling mammalian life, including ourselves - but perhaps, by then, our remote descendants will have left Earth for the stars, providing we can survive THIS century, & in that, the threats don't just come from climate change, but the possibility of nuclear war, biodiversity loss, over-population, AI & sheer stupidity. Can we overcome them? That remains to be seen.

@MichaelEMann @chrisnelder

First you need to quell the 47 year outbreak of libertaria.

This is easier than you think but the collateral effect will be to toss the MSM/GOP symbiosis under the bus.
