So, @gafanhoto planted this "semantic web" idea and managed to destroy any free time I had planned for the Christmas break 😭

The good news is that I am now also a specialist on RDFs, JSON-LD, schema.org, and Semantic Web in general 👌

Added a "static" (no JS needed) version of the Budo Lineage Tree as part of the process, and individual entries are now annotated in RDFa. A JSON-LD "blob" to add to the JavaScript page is almost done, but it's redundant.

@[email protected] My job is done then :b I am a very strong proponent of RDFS, OWL and sparql endpoints... although they did not really become that popular I still think it`s a very good way to share and reason about data :)

Entry point here: https://budotree.judoc.org/JDP-1.html ; you can toggle between the JavaScript and static versions (this one is still a WIP, moreso than the other).

Budō Lineage Tree

Interactive Budõ lineage tree: community-based, curated, comprehensive, and open

@fsm HAHAHAHHAA NOOOOO, sorry I took your free time :,)
I wasn’t sure if you knew about that kind of technology or not! But the project looked very much a nice fit to be available as rdf as well!
That’s why I asked you
I really enjoy the whole sparkl/rdf/graph data
@gafanhoto it was good to learn more about it, I knew it from a conceptual angle but not through dev lenses . I still need to improve it, and especially also work on a martial arts ontology that can better reflect the relations. Still, it’s already queryable through external services (running a SPARQL endpoint is out of the question due to my 0-cost policy on this).
@fsm Don't be concerned with running a sparql endpoint! The semantic web is very, very flexible, if you allow for people to access all the information in rdf form I think one can access and query the information you provide trough any other endpoint!! :)
@gafanhoto yes, that's the idea. In order to link to the broader semantic web, I've added support for sameAs links to wikidata and DBpedia , so I think I'm set for now - thanks for the idea!
@fsm PERFECT, I love that about the semantic Web! I wish there were more endpoints and open data in rdf so you could query graphs about relations between institutions and other topics
I think it’s a very nice way to see data :)
