My wish for 2024 is that every story that starts with "A new study from the [name of institution] found that" includes the name(s) of the author, the study's title, and a link to the actual study.

I'd go further. Copy the original research to your own site, to future proof against link rot..

The (constantly expanding) PR team at the school where I work does put a *link* (not a DOI) in their press releases - but they are not interested in A, putting the citation of the paper in their press release, B, having the authors of papers that are paywalled in journals that allow green OA put the accepted manuscript on Zenodo so that the PR team can link to that too. So weird - do they want people reading the paper or not?
