First shave since new my water softener installed. Already noticing a huge difference in lather and shave quality; looking forward to improvements as the soft water is fully in the system. Suggest everyone try a soft water shave if they can.

@merikus Soft water also helps the plumbing, not to mention laundry. When I had a house, I softened all water except outside spigots and kitchen cold water. (I had an ion-exchange softener.)

I totally agree: soft water is TONS better than hard. One odd thing: people who live with hard water don't realize that wet skin is slick. They are so accustomer to the film of soap scum left when they shower, that they think only soapy skin is slick.
