I’m finding it shocking how quickly journalists are racing to Meta’s Threads, when we all know how hostile the company is to news.

For fun, I did a thread on Threads about this. Doubt it will get boosted by the algorithm there:

@Julia I’m on Threads too but hard to take it seriously: have to block 2 or 3 porn bots a day and 95% of the posts are pro-Blue anti-MAGAt in nature. That’s fine as far as it goes and balances out X but I far prefer Mastodon.
@JonChevreau I haven’t had those problems on Threads, thankfully. My problem so far is how heavily it is populated by Meta execs — I feel like I’m in some sort of over enthusiastic corporate Slack channel and that by being there, we are all complicit in gaslighting Meta’s part in destroying the news business.
@Julia Strange: I barely notice Meta execs on Threads. I guess once you go down the path of Blue mutual following parties on Threads, the resulting feed drowns out everything else.
@JonChevreau @Julia I get very repetitive stuff too

@JonChevreau @Julia is there a boost button there ? can you boost Julia's post on threads ?

(i don't see it without a proper account)
