One thing that I've liked in the past year about Mastodon is not being force fed content from people outside my follow/follower lists.

I can see posts get passed around, people I know engaging, and mostly see content I care about.

It's great to see posts in many different languages, unsuppressed by algorithms.

It's quite liberating to be in control of my own social media, rather than having some rich dude breathing over my shoulder, telling me "look at this, it's what I think is important"
