Lol, yesterday it was about X, today it’s about Threads. Well, you know what? I’m on Threads, and it’s about sharing our daily lives and information, as it should be. And yes, it’s an excellent thing that a significant network wants to integrate with an OPEN protocol that has been designed that way for a purpose.
Now I woukd say Mastodon, maybe it's time to change the disk.

@dimillian I have no problem with Threads. What I have a problem with is Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

"People will go where Threads is accessible to get the most audience [like friends/fam]. This creates pressure on admins to not defederate (if you've seen [defederation] drama [with] mastodon.social, you know what I'm talking about).

[As top dog], Threads will be able to change how federation protocols are used as they wish; instances will have to keep up to stay federated."

@dimillian They are in an absolute position on the strength side — they make mastodon.social look dainty and run by perfect beings.

It's becomes a simple strong-man issue. Threads is the strong man, and he WILL strong-man you and your instance to do as they wish which includes whatever they want, protocols, mandates, to maintain your federation or else your instance bows out on millions of connections.

The people on Threads I want. The company? Pass.
