Super interesting article about the UX of parcel delivery systems https://builtformars.com/case-studies/ux-of-parcels
Part 2 is especially intriguing, basically my guess is because of Apple's required cut of purchases made through apps, that may apply to parcel services somehow as well, so they opt to their online form instead. This really damages the conversion rate for non-mobile forms, begging the question (or opportunity) for why companies haven't optimized this sooner?!
The UX of delivering parcels

I shipped identical boxes, less than a mile, with multiple delivery companies — one was seized by the police. This is the UX of delivering parcels.

@alico shipping sounds exhausting! What country does this refer to? [Edit: later in the article, UK is mentioned] In germany, you go to the website, tell them how large/heavy the thing is, and you see the (fixed) price. (this, for example
https://www.dhl.de/de/privatkunden/pakete-versenden/deutschlandweit-versenden/paket.html )

That article sounds *exhausting* to me.

@claudius I believe this is all based in the UK you're right. Very interesting how different countries handle cost estimating. Great points!
