@mosseri Threads is a Meta data collection operation intended to feed into AI-powered disinformation campaigns.
Meta does not get the benefit of the doubt given its role in enabling genocide.
@mosseri This is utter nonsense given Meta's history of intellectual property theft (for generative AI), and genocide enablement (Rohingya).

Attached: 1 image โI believe that Facebook represents one of the gravest threats to democracies around the world, and I am amazed that we have allowed our freedoms to be taken away by technology companiesโ greed for growth and revenues.โ - Maria Ressa, How to Stand Up to a Dictator, 2022 #Fedipact - The instances blocking Zuckerberg's Threads.net https://fedipact.veganism.social/?v=2 An interactive list of which ActivityPub (Matodon, Lemmy, FireFish, etc) instances are federating with Threads.net #FediPact #NoPassaran
@wild1145 @Archie8 @mosseri Yeah. Certainly interesting. How does legality even work for a federated package of information: Essentially itโs copied a great deal of times.
My instance may be a European one, but the data of my posts no longer really is European after itโs been broadcasted on something the instance doesnโt even claim to control.
Well, everything you post on the Fediverse is already fully available for everyone on the internet to see / gather / analyse. So I've never understood the privacy issues regarding the posts on the Fediverse.
The Threads app however requires a lot of permissions, I would never install the app on my phone ๐ .
Basically make Threads part of the Fediverse, so it is interoperable. As I have a small family instance I'm curious about the impact this has.
For now I'm positive ๐
