stop doing consciousness

- brain was never supposed to have "theory of mind"

- millions of years development and yet no real world use found for having self-recognition in mirrors

- "please transfer internal cognitive states to other organisms by means of sequential tokens obeying grammatical relationships", "I am not a cognitive zombie" - statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged

THEY HAVE PLAYED US FOR ABSOLUTE FOOLS! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!

@cstross there is what I consider a wonderful book by Peter Watts (sorry if you already know about it and I’m explaining your field of expertise to you), where there’s an encounter with aliens and it turns out they are not conscious, pretty much no one except humans is, consciousness is a an evolutionary dead end.

@cstross and they consider humans‘ constant chatter an attack because it wastes their brains cpu cycles, so to speak.

Oh, And it’s got a nice explanation for why there can be vampires in space.

@strasseba @cstross Oh yeah there’s a neat Bruce Sterling short “The Swarm” that also plays that angle: this super-evolved mega-entity grows a temporary conscious node just to interface with some would-be invading humans from earth and lectures them at some length about how it only does this when dopes like them show up who havent yet realized how incompatible with life consciousness is in the long term
