I need help. My parents had a TV in their basement that made _a lot_ of heat. It was up high, just below the ceiling. It stained the ceiling… we think.

What is this? Heat marks? Mold? (This is after me and my sister tried to clean it up tonight, but we kind of just pushed it around.)

@rmondello having just gone through smoke damage in our apartment, that looks an awful lot like what we had. soot. maybe the tv was running so hot it was smoking a bit? we were recommended to not use any liquids, just dry cloths/vacuums to get it cleaned.
