As the preeminent hockey fan on kind.social (prove me wrong! I need more hockey people to follow!) I want to share something fun from last night.

Erik Johnson (in the jersey) played for the Colorado Avalanche for 13 seasons. That is a very long time to play, let alone for one team.

This year he's with a new team, and last night was his first game back in Colorado.

Gabe Landeskog, the Captain of the Avs, is currently injured and not playing. This is him and his kids welcoming back "Uncle EJ".

It's worth noting that Gabe's injury is major enough that he has been away from the team rehabbing in Toronto. He made sure to not only come back himself but also bring his kids to see EJ again.

I love this kind of camaraderie in sports. The good side of sport is when it brings people together, both inside a team and when a community supports a team.

You can see the tribute video that the Avalanche made for EJ, and his reaction to it being played at the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnD4XIf32E

Anyway, just a bit of a warm hearted start to your day. I hope you enjoy a look into a world many of you might not be involved in a lot!
@wokenclick Whenever I hear about Erik Johnson, all I can think about is him missing an entire season after blowing out his knee while playing golf cart bumper cars.
