I'm tired of articles quoting political figures, FDA officials, etc, making statements on twitter.

A legal argument was made in the past that officials can't block people because everybody should have access to public statements.

I wonder if the same argument can be used for not using twitter. Why would I have to accept twitter's TOS to read a public statement from an elected official? Public statements should be accessible to every constituent.

@lobau In the Netherlands there was a sudden flurry of official accounts that moved from Twitter to Mastodon as Twitter’s sudden requirement to login to see a tweet coincided with a major weather warning and organisations discovered that Twitter was thus no longer a useful PSA channel.
