The rainbows are nice... - Lemmy.World

Does anyone still even do rainbow? I remember I had it for a little bit and ended up going with a specific color scheme, otherwise I just have a room full of rainbows and that feels tacky somehow
I do but I’m gay so not sure it counts.
I went full RGB on my desktop setup, even including additional RGB light bars. What’s the point of having a boring 90s era PC when you can have all the lights.

I keep the rainbow preset on all my devices so if it’s the first time someone’s seeing either my home build or gaming laptop I can show off just how many colors both do (super smooth color transitions at high speed are pretty and impressive to random)

Otherwise I use red that matches my decor and cycle trhougg different effects like breathing or sound reactive

My wife leaves rainbow on and has for 8 years because it’s pretty

Everything I’ve ever gotten with RGB lights was a rainbow disco by default but I thought that was to force you to install the crappy driver software to turn it off.

I’m with you. If you are an adult, RGB is tacky.

To each their own, not my house.

All you really need is magenta.
People who believe rainbows are gay and avoid them because of that, deserve to have that freedom taken from them. Rainbow me up baby.
it scares me that Californication
For a long time, I rejected the rainbow. But just recently, after a long line of plain black cases, I've learned to embrace it. I RGB'd all the things and its like a little party every time I play something
Colors mean faster
Mostly red, though

Red = faster CPU

Blue = more RAM

Green = more VRAM

Rainbow = better Excel macros

Don’t even try to hide it. I’ve seen LinuxSocks.
My PC is in my room. RGB sucks for sleeping.
Same and to make it even worse I’m very light sensitive when sleeping. I seriously went as far as to unplug my monitor and make a PC cover every night. because the indicator light would keep me up at night.
Just shut down the computer
…wat

If you’re on Windows, hit the Windows key (or open the start bar) and find the icon that looks like a circle with a vertical dash through to top of it. From there, you’re looking for “shut down”.

This will safely turn off your computer so that the lights will turn off.

If liking WRGB is gay then call me Miles Davis, or something.

I have like 30 WLED fixtures in my house.

The movie is coming from inside the house
My super gay PC is better than all consoles because it’s in a same-sex relationship with the toaster. The microwave is a republican, though, so there’s a lot of tension in the kitchen. I’m looking into getting a new microwave that’s less bigoted.
Buy an LG microwave with Bluetooth connectivity
This is an old fashioned take. Nowadays playstation users call themselves gay.

It’s called a road, it’s called a Rainbow Road

It is a road that you go

And here’s me over here wondering if any of them will ever grow up.
You can’t own refracted light!
My husband is a pc gamer and it’s seeping into other aspects of his life too. He just bought a bunch of rgb spotlights for the front of our house for Christmas. What’s Christmas about rgb? Not sure but I’m just a console gamer so what do I know.
Red and green are strongly associated with Christmas. Just tape over the blue one or something
Can’t do that unfortunately, each spotlight is one colour changing bulb and it does the whole rainbow spectrum.
Cant we just pick antother icon for LGBT instad of the rainbow that had another meaning? Sometimes when people see a rainbow they think of LGBT

I’m not sure why you’d be the leader of LGBT, but you’re welcome to suggest an alternative.

While you’re at it, could you also change the icon of the USA? Stars and stripes could be so much cooler without being tied to Captain America.

Im not lol, Im just thinking a separate flag would reduce confusion, like the trans flag
What “other meaning”?
The rainbow, the natural phenomen
That is not a meaning.
When people saw a rainbow they didnt thibk of LGBT, Probably did not word it right

And when people saw wood they didn’t think of an erect penis but here we are. It’s almost like language and symbols evolve over time.

Your complaint is utterly nonsensical.

Yeah I know words cahnge over time, but wood meaning that was probably to avoid saying penis or something like that, They couldve adopted a different flag, like they did with the trans one. Now maybe they could chose this to avoid consorship, not sure, that makes sense

You openly admit you don’t know why the rainbow was chosen for the pride flag but then say that they should change it anyway?

Bruh. Like I said. Utterly nonsensical complaint. Either way we’re not changing it. Gonna have to cope with it buddy.

Lemme see if I have this straight.

You want to pick a new symbol for the gays, but you want to use a symbol that has no other meaning associated with it. Can’t use multicoloured arcs because that already symbolizes the rainbow itself. So by that logic, you can’t use ANY existing concept or image of any previously existing thing.

Dude, just be honest with yourself. The Gays give you weird feelings you’re not willing to examine.

Speaking on behalf of the gays™:

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

PC gamers: either gay or confident enough in their sexuality to not be scared of being associated with rainbows.

At least I’d like to think that, but then gamergate was a thing, so it’s probably more accurate to say that a bunch think rainbows are gay but their rainbow LEDs are an exception or some shit.

I think gamergate was actually pushed pretty far by political actors. I believe that scumbag Steve Bannon actually had a lot of involvement there because he wanted to propagndize to “rootless white men” and create an army of assholes to vote the way he wants. :/
Seems like something Russia would have pushed (along with the opposing side) at the time, too.

So? I don’t care what it’s associated with because 1) I’m not a homophobe 2) the color spectrum is neat. All the colors we can see, represented in a neat continuum. It’s just pleasing to the eye.
Idk man, sounds pretty gay
I still don’t care… But by your logic, what colors sound pretty straight?
Not all the colours, you ever seen brown on a rainbow?
My bad. I should have said all the hues
