Tesla unveils its latest humanoid robot, Optimus Gen 2, in demo video - Lemmy.zip

Fortunately, the battery challenge remains unsolved
Must calls him, “brother.”
So they have nothing !?
But why

For the first time there’s serious pressure to unionize Tesla, and this bot can walk and has thumbs.

They want to replace people.

I would be very surprised if that was actually the reason. human similar bots have been shown to be much worse than single purpose bots for decades now and tesla already uses tons of bots in its manufacturing.

The past decades they haven’t been anywhere near what they are now.

There wasn’t even any humanoid robots being mass manufactured before, that’s started just this year.

So it can walk slowly, and move eggs without breaking them?

great…

A lot of jobs are just moving things around.

Put this in a factory, and have it slowly move around 24/7 and you can cut thousands of hours off of payroll for actual humans.

And their investing in all this now because they know it will be trivial to get it moving a little faster over the next few years.

What I mean is that this seems very overhyped, look at Boston Dynamics robots like Spot or the one that jumped around a small area throwing a bag to a worker on a platform.

Neither of those are humanoid, and they seem to perform far better than the Teslabot…

I’m gonna pour barbecue sauce on it
