While I'm waiting for my Intel 8087-2 math coprocessor for my Amstrad PPC, I have another project for #DOScember. A Toshiba Satellite Pro 490XCDT. One of the last laptop made for #DOS with a #SoundBlaster compatible soundcard, with both line in and out and microphone in and headphone out with a real volume knob. Hard disk clicks and doesn't have the original content, but I have a CD to restore it. #retrocomputing #retrogaming #Toshiba #satellite

It has a Pentium II processor. Still a youngin' at 25 years old. #Toshiba #satellite pro 490xcdt.

I dont have a laptop hard disk (2.5” ultra ide) in the spinning rust (mechanical) category that a) would be small enough to be compatible and b) that still works. But i do have ultra ide to CF and some 4GB flash cards. Perfect for #DOS. #DOScember

It’s just a matter of switching the mechanical hard disk for this.

But sometimes, you hit a glitch. This kind of adapter wont work in the hard disk sled of the Toshiba laptop… screw holes are perpendicular to each other… #DOScember

Fortunately, i have something that will work. The other adapter has holes at the bottom, but also on the side. That will work in the toshiba sled. #DOScember

And this one can take 2 CF cards…

And off we go… see you on the other side.

Yes, it is technically installing windows 95, but it first has to create a dos partition and install dos and utils.

And that is one loud fan. Kind of like my old macbook pro when i would be training a model…

Look at that nice Yamaha Station with digital audio player, midi player and CD player and mixer. I also was able to rehab one of the 2 batteries I have that are compatible with this model. That's the battery level indicator in the top right corner. Windows 95 theme is rainy days. #retrogaming #retrocomputing #Toshiba #laptop #DOScember

The laptop has a Yamaha chipset and is sound blaster pro compatible (stereo) in DOS. Not sure if it is also SB16 compatible, I'll have to try that out.
