From time to time, I like to share my favorite iPhone photo I ever took.

Partly because of my miraculous lucky timing, and partly because I periodically like to brag a little.

Detroit, August 2021. 1:42am.

Deets.
@hotdogsladies Serendipitous that you shot in RAW!
@maxrsiegel I knew it was 95% going to be total garbage with a small chance it'd be magic. Took 4-5 shots to get it, but luckily there was SO much chain lightning.

I am so humbled and impressed that several of you remember that this was the day I utterly BODIED an old woman for briefly annoying me on an airplane.

You guys are the best.

@hotdogsladies okay i’m sorry to roll into your mentions twice today

but holy SHIT, merlin

@beep Ethan you gorgeous piece of shit please be here CONSTANTLY and don’t be a diva about it.

I like you!

@hotdogsladies oh no merlin my emotions 😭

Thank you. And I like you back, friend!

@beep You and me, kid. We got this.
@hotdogsladies Narrator: “Little did he know, this storm foreshadowed the trouble he would face in his attempts to fly home with his family”
@hotdogsladies is this before or after you beat the shit out of that poor grandma
@Whitis @hotdogsladies she had it coming, she did not keep moving or get out of the way.

@Whitis Dakota, I fucking BODIED that old woman.

Later that day.

(And nice pull!)

@hotdogsladies Wait, that was two years ago? Quit compressing time!
@hotdogsladies Nice. Of course one must include one’s own lightning shot.
@hotdogsladies amazing photo. And makes me miss home.
@hotdogsladies I am impressed of your photo even more after trying to capture a lightning myself several times. This is my last and best attempt. It took tons of shots and ~30 minutes
@hotdogsladies that’s incredible. I used Live Photo before to capture lightning. But not at night! FWIW, here is my fav. Salem Harbor, a few weeks ago. It’s lonely out there in the fog.
